Mushroom House
Hi Everyone,
I’m so happy to get to share with you another of my favorite kind of projects to make: 3d paper houses! And this theme is a super fun one to play with.
First, I want to share the links for the svg patterns I used. The house is made by 3dsvg and you can find that pattern here. The sunflower on top is made by svgcuts and you can purchase that pattern here.
In addition to mixing up svg patterns I also love adding Tim Holtz details from his dies. I’ll try to list those below as I come to them.
So to start with I painted these papers so I would have the exact look I wanted for this house. The ‘trunk’ was sponged with neutrals to resemble a real mushroom and because I love oranges and reds, I used this palette for the top. I put yellow and orange on the very top and red and orange on the bottom.
Then I decided I wanted gold flecks so I embossed some of those using Tim Holtz Speckles stencil. Unfortunately my embossing dabber is broken so I got a few globs but I went with it.
Next I cut out a bunch of foliage using an assortment of Tim Holtz dies: Tim Holtz Funky Foliage and Funky Toadstools as well as Spring Greens decorative strip and Cut Out Leaves.
After cutting them out I sprayed them with Distress Stains in an assortment of greens and brown.
I started adding the greenery around the bottom of the house and added a few on top as well to make it look like vines.
I wanted a big but detailed flower for the top so this is where I used the sunflower pattern from svgcuts (link above) and I loved how this turned out! So bright and happy!
Then, using the flowers I made previously (you can find that tutorial here) I started building up layers of flowers and greenery all around the base of the mushroom.
Next, I added moss and lastly some Prima Marketing Art Stones in varying sizes.
I really love how this turned out and it’s super cool when lit up – just hard to get a good picture of that.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and it inspires you to make one of your own!
Happy Crafting!
Laurie 😊
